How We Got Here!

Our journey is in the video and the story of how we got here is below…

  • THE BEGINNING.

On Aug 9th, 2020, Stan was out riding his bike, topped a hill and dropped dead from cardiac arrest.

Four bystanders stopped and performed CPR for 11-minutes until EMTs arrived. EMTs spent another 22-minutes on CPR, used all medications in their medical bag and shocked him 3-times before getting his heart started again.

Stan was dead on the side of the road for 33-minutes.

  • THE FIGHT.

Stan’s “widow-maker” artery was blocked 99% and the doctors had to insert a stent.

He spent 33-days in the hospital due to a number of complications including code-ice patient, two pneumonias, three blood transfusions, in a medically induced coma for 19-days, and 1-day from being put on life support.

He then spent 7-days in rehab, and came home on Sept. 19, 2020, 33-lbs lighter, extremely weak and using a walker.

He spent 3-weeks on dialysis after returning home due to the damage all the medications did to his kidney’s.

  • THE VILLAGE.

Stan’s wife (Tammy) and son’s (Zac & Logan) spent the 33-days in the hospital by his side almost 24-hours a day.

Tammy spent 14+ hours at the hospital, taking the ‘day-shift’, and his son’s the ‘night-shift', while all of them not knowing if he would continue to live, and if so, what type of life he, and they would have after.

On September 20th, 2020, Stan started rehabbing at home, and completed his 26th marathon 15-months later on Nov. 13th, 2021; and on Sep. 17th, 2022, Stan completed his 6th Ironman Triathlon.

It truly takes a Village… without Gods blessing of the bystanders, the first responders, the hospital staff, the outpatient caregivers, family and friends, this continuing journey would have been different.
